See All"I Don't Think So": Ant-Man Star Addresses Whether They Will Ever Return In The MCU
I really enjoyed him in the Ant Man films and hope to see the whole cast back in the MCU even if in minor roles. As expected, he & Michelle Pfeiffer were standouts in all 3 movies n brought so much heart to the stories. Really I enjoyed the entire cast and tho it wasn't my fave, I liked Quantamania too n don't think it was as bad as many made it seem.
I do wish tho, that they'd found a way to work in the ing cast from the 1st 2 movies, especially the Latino actor whose name escapes me at the moment. He, TI & the rest of their crew were so entertaining n 1 of my fave parts of the movies. But at the very least, I hope to see the Langs/ Pyms/ Van Dynes again down the line :)
I’m Glad The DCU Isn’t Afraid To Explore A Major Superhero Question The MCU Has Been Using For 17 Years
I prefer escapism too and when these movies try too hard to be funny it shows. That's why I disliked Love & Thunder most out of all the MCU movies. Instead of telling a good story and working witty, unexpected humor into it at appropriate times, they tried too hard to make it funny n leaned way too much into the 80s style fad. It made it look like a cheap, Power Rangers show knock-off. Those alien puppets?! Russell Crowe's Zeus tip-toeing down the stairs while holding his skirt?! It was all so dumb & made me cringe.
Whereas up to that point, I think Marvel did a good job telling escapism-type stories involving relatable characters. Its what I loved about the MCU and particularly the Thor movies: the escapism of the world that was built and being drawn into it by the likable characters. The previous Thor movies were so visually stunning; the Asgard scenes especially perfectly captured the wealth, power, granduer, elegance and advanced tech of the realm of these Norse gods. And even though L&T was set on earth, that still could've been captured to a point. But the look of the film was so shoddy and the humor was so dumb, simplistic, campy & ill-timed that the movie felt like a bunch of bumbling humans running around in Halloween costumes. Very disappointing. I think the lesson is balance, and w humor in these movies, less is more. When they try too hard to be something they aren't at the expense of telling a good story w relatable characters, we can't invest in them enough to take the journey. Hopefully James Gunn doesn't take the DCU too far in the campy direction. Just my opinion :)
