See AllSnow White’s 47% Rotten Tomatoes Score Is A Harsh Reminder That Disney’s Live-Action Movies Peaked A Decade Ago
Several of these are not remakes. The 1994 jungle book is barely even related to the animated adaption and only half funded by Disney. I have an idea. Make new movies. Instead of trying to changing stories that are a little dated and reflect negative aspects of the past to be more "relevant" and push negative aspects of our time, make new movies. I mean, some of these were at least new stories only related to originals, but even the whole humanized villain or the villain is the hero are getting old. And why so many movies pushing female characters? Seems like overcompensation, that and a failure for decades of Disney to actually write successful male leads, characters are just awful. Even in a remake, like Aladdin, they nerf the male to make more room for jasmine. The name of the movie is aladdin. Make new movies, very simple. Even I think the Lilo and stitch looks promising, but last I looked ving rhames is still working how is he not in this movie? At least since Tarzan has been made like 50 times before there was a Disney version we likely won't have to deal with that. Bad enough they reminded us that while will smith sold millions of records he can't sing worth a damn.
