I disagree about Ted black. This is showing they don't understand why Suits was great. It wasn't quippy banter. One was the unique characters. Mike, Louis, Donna among others. Two was a backstory with real consequences. Three Mike's character was the audience, despite his gift he live a mostly normal screwed up life and now he gets to move to the high life. I think contrast helps. Just some of it off my head.

A better spin off would be using a similar formula and instead of another lawyer show make it financial show. How some luck of the draw kid gets an opportunity to be part of a team at a top firm and make tons would be cool.
