In Bram Stoker's novel - and in Coppola's film - Dracula appears in daylight and looks much younger, but he lacks any.power. I think it was Hammer Films that really played up the sunlight angle.
I thought Nosferatu was ok - I didn't think the script was much good from the perspective of characterisation, and the soundtrack was poor. But the cinematography was superb and Orlok was very well presented, down to that weird and resonant accent
