Craig was a good Bond. But he was a Bond for the GenX crowd. He was musclebound, brooding and emotional. But the Bond in Flemmings novels was cultured, sophisticated, well dressed, as well as a macho cold killer when necessary. Connery fits the character the best of all the actors that played Bond. When you view Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Goldfinger, you see Flemmings character come to life in Connery. Don't get me wrong Craig played a good modern Bond but he is nothing like the character in Flemmings novels.

Craig was a good Bond for this era or time period. He identified with the GenX crowd. Being from the Baby Boomer crowd its Connery all the way. Further of all the actors who played Bond, Connery's take was the closest to the Ian Flemming books. He was macho without being musclebound (as was Craig). He was cultured, but cold and ruthless without showing emotions. That was the character dreamed up by Flemming.
