The mistake is believing the series lives and dies by Vin Diesel. The franchise excelled when Diesel wasn't even in the movies with 2 Fast 2 Furious and Tokyo Drift. Dom is not particularly as engaging as Diesel may believe. He spends a lot of screen time staring hard and speaking very slowly. Not engaging. Walker was really the heart of the franchise, not Diesel. So to cancel the franchise because Diesel is tired of it is the ultimate ego move. It's NOT about him. It has NEVER been. If Diesel believes it is, he is wrong. Nobody would miss Diesel from the Franchise. If it truly is about family, then he won't mind seeing the franchise continue to live on without him for family's sake.

2 Fast 2 Furious is my favorite movie in the franchise. Tyrese was an absolute Rockstar! He completely stole the show. While Vin Diesel was making duds apart from the Furious movies, Walker and Gibson were busy keeping the franchise going. Then Diesel comes back, steals the plot to be all about himself, then has the nerve to call it all about "family" when it's really all about him. To this day, I'd rather see Gibson than Diesel. They went the wrong way with the storyline if you asked me. Coming soon, "Furious 12 - Dom stares REALLY REALLLLY HARD at the camera!!"

I loved this movie and showcased it to numerous friends on Blu Ray. They loved it too. The main hero was written a little weak, I'll it. That character could have displayed a stronger presence and came off closer to a 13 year old boy than a man. And i think more of the movie should have taken place above the clouds. That area was the scary unknown and more interesting. The giants came down to Earth too early. But overall, very enjoyable, and 3D was impressive as well.
