The legitimate fanbase does not consider this show canon — and are desperately, desperately trying to forget that it ever happened. Skeleton Crew — which managed to factor in diversity, queer and neurodiverse representation, while also telling a good story —has put this show to shame, and we shouldn't really be mentioning them together in the same sentence.
The really unfortunate thing is that The Acolyte was so egregiously bad, that it's become radioactive — and sadly this appears to have had an effect on Skeleton Crew's opening viewing figures. Leslye Headland has got a lot to answer for, and she needs to have good long think about what she's done.

Isn't it funny how Agatha All Along — which, like The Acolyte, is leaning heavily into diversity + female/queer representation — hasn't drawn nearly as much ire from supposedly toxic fans?
It's possibly due to the fact that the show-runner of Agatha All Along isn't an ego-maniacal half-wit who prioritises political agenda and misguided personal ideology over good storytelling.
