The Dark Tower
1/10

I have 3 major issues with this movie as a die hard King fan. The Dark Tower is 7 books and over 15,000 pages of text. They tried to cram it in a 90 min movie. IT which is barely 1,000 pages got a 4 hour movie. The Stand a miniseries. Now he should never have been the gunslinger as the gunslinger is white in the books. This isn’t racism it’s about staying true to the book. If a white guy was playing a black role I would have the same problem. This is King’s legacy. A brilliant work that was disrespected. For me it was jumping from one book to another and back again. He wasn’t bad as an actor. The script sucked. Die hards like myself were very much upset. This can’t be a movie unless they do a movie for every book like Harry Potter etc. or a miniseries each season depicting one book. So we can’t blame the actors here. They did as they were told by their bosses. King wasn’t happy and who could blame him. So let’s put the blame where it belongs on production staff etc. Iris is a great actor I love his movies but he just doesn’t fit in this role. Again the gunslinger is white and Jake dies at the end of book 1. But he lived in the movie. You can’t change crucial parts of a story and this story is massive. It has major character depth, different worlds, it’s like 15,000 pages. Anyway I think the world was too touch on Iris. What about Matthew McConaughey? He was terrible as the man in black. Absolutely crappy acting. At least Iris tried his best at a crappy script. I’m very happy he’s back because he’s a great actor who has range. He was punished by the media to the point he didn’t get any work. What’s an actor to do? Anyway I hope the find a way to get this on screen but I’m fine if it doesn’t if it’s crappy. King needs to approve everything. This is the one of the biggest things he will be ed for. It took him like almost his whole career to write these books.
