I like solo leveling but in my opinion Frieren should have won. It's just unfortunate that the voting for 2024 anime of the year started so late. Solo leveling season 2 dubbed had finished the day before voting had started. So in people's mind they just watched season 2 then voting started and it's still so fresh in their minds that it got the popularity vote when it should have only been based on season 1. Crunchyroll dropped the ball starting voting so late when in the past it normally starts around February. Solo leveling season 2 started in 2025 but people are gonna vote on what's fresh.
