I know how this is going to end. At the end of the Yellowstone origin series 1883, Graham Greene is playing a Crow chief. He told James Dutton that they could have the Paradise Valley, but in 7 generations the Natives would take it back. John Dutton is the 7th generation....their lease has expired.

UPDATE: The last scene in episode 13 confirms my deduction! The remaining Duttons are trying to raise a ridiculous amount of cash to pay their property tax. They succeed, but only raise enough for 1 year. After hearing this, Kayce asks Beth a tax question. The answer to that question confirms my theory about the fate of the ranch.
