See AllThe Boys' Creator Thinks You Missed the Point of Watchmen
The essential difference between Moore and Ennis as regards to superheroes is that Moore loved superheroes and Ennis had nothing but disdain for them.
Moore never intended when he wrote it for Watchmen to be the last word on superheroes - Watchmen was essentially a great big What if story albeit brilliantly done - and it is only because of the way that he was treated by the DC & Marvel to a lesser extent that he has soured on the idea of superheroes as a whole and on fandom in particular.
The Boys was a bit of fun and a laugh but to read it for any deeper understanding of anything let alone superheroes is stupid. It was a grotesque and over the top piss take. Ennis' work such as Preacher & the Boys are laced with a streak of nastiness and are often crude and he would do better to stick to War comics or Punisher which he does so much better.
