See AllI'm Convinced The D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Has Taken Rulings Over Rules Too Far
Replying to your reply on my comment. I've been a DM since D&D red box edition in 82. Anyone whining and complaining about clear rules and direction, lacks imagination and should stick to board games. It's is impossible to have a rule for everything. Even if you had a RPG that was thousands of pages.
This the reason RPGs need a DM, GM, Referee, etc. Someone that understands the rules, enough to make a call on the fly. Any action can ruled upon around the core base rules, with just a little thought and imagination.
5e has way more rules than any early edition of D&D. There are plenty rules strict and rules heavy RPGs out there. Those games tend to bog the flow with too many mechanics. Turning a Roleplaying Game into a Roll Playing Game.

What in the......???? D&D is a roleplaying game, not chess, a board game, or video game. You have a DM who makes calls on the fly. RPGs have to be flexible, that stress rulings, not rules.
I can tell the writer of this article must be a "Rules Lawyer" type of player. They are the type that argue about the rules with the DM every session, draining fun out of the game. Instead of letting the group have fun and utilizing a creative approach.
I say, stick to video games. That way you have strict rules, defined by programming.
