See AllThere's One Thing About Aslan That Netflix's Narnia Movies Must Not Change, Despite Greta Gerwig's Radical Casting
I think that if you're going to write an article about whether or not Aslan will be genderbent and if that will affect his mane (which I agree is something very important that I've been thinking about ever since the Streep announcement), you should do a little more research than relying on your memories of kindergarten when they told you about lions and just believing that that is and always will be the truth. Because it isn't. The truth is that lionesses can, in fact, have manes. It's not especially common, but at least 5 lionesses in the wild have been observed to have grown out manes and exhibited typically "male-like" behaviors, as well as some in captivity. The reasons for this can range from hormonal issues, to age, to genetics, but the fact remains that it does happen. With that in mind, and Aslan being known to be very old, I think that I wouldn't mind too much if Aslan was a lioness. To me, even with the Jesus argument, I don't think that Aslan Being Male specifically is the important thing, but Aslan having a Mane is. So they'd just have to make her a lioness with a mane 😁🦁♀
