Chuck Dixon’s writing was made for comic books and it shows. It wasn’t a gritty thriller. They’re minuscule chapters of violence and ignorance. I preferred the movie by far. Letting the girl live was sensible in a movie scenario. We need to have hopeful endings in movies right now.

And you skipped the part where she was offered a Lt position and turned it down because she didn’t want to be behind a desk, and the way police departments work, the higher ranking stay in the office. her remaining a sergeant gives her more reason to have more active roles and more screen time and experiences. So while sure, she deserves a promotion, the storyline for her would have to change dramatically.
