MobLand's Harrigan Family Tree Explained
I'm hooked! Seeing Pierce Brosnan in such a gritty role without his charm and pretty boy good looks to smooth over the bad guy character is an absolute delight! (In the first episode, there are already two crucial scenes that ask, can we say possible Emmy nod for playing more than a suave, leading man?)
Trivia: Helen Mirren and him appeared together in one of their first role, "THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY" 1979 movie. Mirren stars as the wife of London mob boss Harold Shand (Bob Hoskins); Brosnan is an Irish thug assassin associated with the Irish Republic Army. If MOBLAND is as half as good as TLGF, audiences are in for a real treat up there with the GODFATHER but in the traditional understated British crime storytelling manner.
If you aren't use to British crime dramas be patient while they draw the characters and set up what's to come.
MOBLAND according to the reviews was originally conceived as a spinoff of RAY DONOVAN series and morphed into a British crime drama set in London. I didn't catch RD on its first run but I'm binge watching it now.
I am disappointed that critics are not mentioning his big American splash breakout as the detective, REMINGTON STEELE. One of the first comedy-drama, male/female buddy partner TV shows (1980s).
