The writing is good. Characters, particularly both of the kids are really solid. The issue is that Kat Dennings is really polarizing. Last Man Standing replaced a key cast member (a daughter) after season 1 and it worked. If Shifting Gears does the same and replaces Kat it’ll be a hit.
