I don't believe Zendaya's "MJ" was ever supposed to take the place of Mary Jane. Bringing Sink in to play Gwen doesn't make any sense. Especially Spider Gwen since the time table wouldn't make sense with a younger Peter Parker. But I guess we'll see. Sony has shown with its extended Spider verse that it doesn't really care about comic accuracy
