It wasn't a breach of trust. Only an idiot would tell an officer of the law that they assassinated someone. Because that puts the law officer in a very terrible position. As long as they don't know, they're not accessories to murder. He's trying to protect her from the consequences of his actions.

It's funny, but after watching them together, I like Justin Hartley better. He's great as Colter Shaw and that's my favorite character.
