If the battle royale is a free to play version of the game, I couldn't care less what they do with it as long as the actual battlefield game isn't infested with gaudy skins and unrealistic movement mechanics. Heck, maybe if they milk that they can add some good maps.

The way they did it in BF4 it wasn't a gimmick. On Siege of Shanghai you could destroy the tower objective to prevent the enemy from accessing the other objectives via parachute, neuter the other team's AA capabilities, clear out enemies so you can capture the objective, or destroy the map's visibility if snipers are being a plague. On Lancang Dam, you could collapse part of the dam to block armor from using the northern route and provide cover for infantry to advance there instead.
