And WRONG.. Sci Fi got there 2 decades ago. They've adapted the original and two of The sequels over the course of their original mini series and sequel mini series that combine the second and third books.

And actually adapted far more faithfully than these new editions.

I would say this is a strong indicator of how weak the ratings were. That they want to make it clear the show is cancelled. To be fair they don't have to cancel Book of Boba Fett since those stories do and can be continued in "The Mandolirian" where the character first returned backs getting his own series. "The Acolyte" not being in the same timeline or would make sense to make note of it's cancellation as those plot threads won't be directly addressed.
