This is exactly how I felt. Nani in the remake is...someone that the original Nani would have had strong words with about what is important. The choice to forgo Gantu and make Jumba the villain also really destroys the whole idea of redemption and the power that a family has to change people. Jumba does not change in the remake and there is no redemption. Nani gives lilo up for her dreams, following the current "be a girl boss and your career is more important than family" idea that is so prevalent right now (even though MANY people are currently finding out this idea is complete garbage)
