See AllMarvel its Spider-Man's Iconic Nickname Makes No Sense in the Modern Day
I totally agree with you! I grew up reading and watching Spiderman, my first comic was Spiderman in 1976. But I always saw the moniker of "friendly neighborhood " as a meaning of hope, of comraderty, that even the little girl down the block can ask Spiderman for help to find her puppy that got loose or to stop the neighborhood bully from picking on kids. He could travel to Mars with the X-men one moment and help the little girl when he returns. Because to him, home, Aunt May, Uncle Ben, MJ will always be his refuge to find himself and remind himself that no matter what he must deal with, no matter what troubles he must face, his neighborhood is his refuge of hope and friendship.
