This isn't really about westerns, but I had just written a thread about Mickey Rourke in The Last Outlaw,, and someone else mentioned Frank Stallone being in Tombstone. And that brought to mind the movie Rourke and Stallone were in together. BARFLY. Mickey Rourke was every bit as deprived of a deserved Oscar in that movie as Val Kilmer was in Tombstone.

I was surprised to see Mr Rourke in a Western. I like that movie, and think it's also a good Western.

Elmore Leonard also wrote "The Oxbow Incident" starting Henry Fonda.
It's actually amazing how many Elmore Leonard books have been made into movies. If he doesn't have the record in that regard, I don't know who has more. He and Larry McMurty wrote great westerns and other gendres as well.
