Barrowman isn't an actor with the greatest range but his charisma worked as Captain Jack. Too bad for him and us he didn't get the message in time that sexual harassment isn't considered appropriate material for workplace humor anymore.

They literally recast the main character every few years in Doctor Who. I think the audience may be a bit more open to recasting (regeneration) than fans used to worshipping an actor more than the role.

Personally, I would welcome a River Song regeneration. Maybe there was a bi-regeneation before the one we saw where they made classy Kingston act like a teenager? As for Rogue, no thanks. Doctors usually last three seasons and with it eight eps a series now we'd barely get a story out of him with how little we have left with Gatwa in all probability.
