See AllForget Doctor Doom, the MCU Needs to Focus on Another Marvel Villain If It Wants to Thrive
I've thought a lot about that. The pieces are lined up too well to be coincidence. The Maker made battleworld but Doom took it over, and he later destroyed it. He was also responsible for Secret Wars on top of other things like Absolute Carnage. The incursions are a thing now, and maybe Dr. Strange or Wong, or both, detect that they're being manipulated somehow, but can't get a read. He'd be a variant among others that turns out to be responsible for everything that's happening. Spiderman 4 could be an isolated view of the broader picture, and maybe he offers Peter happiness, but at the cost of merging other realities. He'd be the architect-level villain.
