Good point. I always felt like saving Pé almost became sort of like an excuse after a while. Not that I'm saying that Anakin didn't love Pé, but it was pretty obvious that Anakin's fear of loss and hatred toward not being powerful enough likely had an even bigger influence on him turning to the dark side.
