The Chronicles of Narnia is about Christ and God's eternal plan of redemption that's what C.S.Lewis was telling us aboutAslan is Jesus in our world and that's why the children don't go back after a certain age as they are supposed to find Jesus Christ here. The professor had found Christ and he knows that the children must do too. Whatever series you begin if there is no Christ it's not C.S. Lewis' Narnia.
