CM has always been more powerful. That's why his power set has always remained the same yet Supes get more abilities and variations every few years to try and make him unmatched. CM is a better (man) version of Wonder Woman. He literally has no weakness. Martian Manhunter, Captain Atom, Green Lantern and a slew of other heroes can all take down Supes.
