No, I'm pretty sure it's because they're not natural creatures. If this was true, Boq would have fallen asleep along side Dorothy and Lion. Even though Elphaba would feel sorry for how far Nessa's spell went, she'd hate Boq for leading on and hurting Nessa. They can play it off like this is the reason and that maybe because Boq is made of tin he couldn't fall asleep, but I wouldn't buy it.
