See AllThe True Story Behind The Real Addams Family Explained
I'll always feel the 60's show is the best adaptation with the whole premise essentially being about the Addams' constant discrimination from the "normies" while being an example of arguably the most loving and healthy family unit. Carolyn Jones' portrayal of Morticia is especially my most favorite and beloved, while also earning her the position as my idol. In her I saw myself: a misunderstood woman who might look a little different and have unusual interests, but is still a kind and very family-oriented lady. After this it seemed creators just want to make the family more and more dark and depraved, which I feel misses the whole point that just because people look or behave differently doesn't mean they aren't still good people.
