How am I supposed to think of another reason the movie bombed when I didn't even go see it? All I have to go by is the reason why I personally did not go to see that, and why some of my friends did not go. We all did not go for the same reason - the decision to create a central character out of thin air simply for some reason of "representation" or demonstration of "girl power" was a huge turn off.

I loved Eowyn's character in LOTR. She was a strong character but more importantly, she was as Tolkien wrote her. On the flip side, I did not like the expansion of Arwen's role because that was not in accordance with Tolkien.

Rings of power is a mess all around, but one of the main reasons for that is a decision to create a "character arc" for Galadriel that actually diminishes her. Her having any sort of romantic feelings for sauron is blasphemy.

The idea that the show runners are just showing Sauron trying to manipulate others, and is not an attempt to rewrite canon, makes sense if there is a subsequent scene confirming that it is a lie.

But if there isn't a scene later confirming that it's a lie, then to the vast majority of viewers unfamiliar with the background writings, Sauron will have been telling the truth.
