80 years of will-they-won't-they? Spoken like someone who hasn't been paying attention. They have laid out so significantly over time that it wasn't a good match on Wonder Woman's end... Byrne, Pérez, Jimenez et al ... that I'm surprised to see anyone with a straight face say "will-they-won't-they". From the Superman side, the only one who ever seemed like she could possibly beat out Lois was Lana, and this was mostly in the Silver Age. They spent a thousand years fighting together at one point due to some extra-dimensional shenanigans. Superman remained true to Lois until the end. There was occasionally a cheeky aside, like Moore wrote, but even he put in the line, "too obvious". Perhaps a few Elseworld went there but you know. Elseworlds. It was only in the New 52 that someone decided to pair them, and that was the effin'' New 52. A deviation. Silly to claim they were always teasing the two as a pair when most writers addressing the question, historically speaking, has led to 'nope, not gonna work out'.

I mean, Cassandra Cain or Lady Shiva could each beat Batman. Shiva has beaten him, and Batman acknowledges Cassandra could and would if they fought for real. But Harley Quinn is not either of them. These are world class fighters who have devoted their lives to martial arts. Cassandra can read body posture and movement like a language making it a near impossibility for her not to see your next move telegraphed from a mile away. She can see through your feints. Harley Quinn, tho'? Why would she be that good? How is this her deal? Why would that even make her a more interesting character? Her main asset would be unpredictability, but even so, that will only carry so far. I just don't see it. I absolutely adore Harley, I just don't think this works for her character.
