Sword and shield were not the starting point for 3d rendering in pokemon... Pokemon x and y were if we are talking mainline while games that i would compare to arceus experimental path had 3d animation back in coliseum and gale of darkness on the gamecube... Not to mention lets go pickachu (the game before swsh on switch) looked better and pokemon actually had better sizing differences! Also although pokemon games maintain regular price nintendo does multiple sales a year on its games that knocks of about 30% so dont pay full price if you dont want to just wait.
