Actually the name of the island was renamed Themyscira in 1987 after the comic was relaunched after crisis on infinite earths. Later people would refer to it as Paradise Island as a nickname for the spectacular island. I suggest you read the entire run pre crisis and post crisis because at one time DC truly had writers who loved Wonder Woman.
