There are similarities. In the book, Johnny won an Oscar for his role in a war movie. Sinatra won an Oscar for his role in a war movie. They were both lounge singers who made the girls swoon. Of course, there were a few Italian crooners who did that back in the day.

I enjoyed But I'm a Cheerleader. It had the feel of a John Waters movie, though John didn't direct it. Mink Stole, a Waters regular, did appear in it though. I found it particularly amusing that Eddie Cibrian came off as gayer than RuPaul.
