Audrey James is a known criminal. She is also a former Fire Camp Inmate. Maybe parole officer had no issue as long as it was a working relationship, but a romantic relationship could be viewed as an entirely different matter. Makes more sense than Bode having secret criminal meetings that the don't even bother to show on screen only to tell us about it after the fact..... First thing I thought of when I saw that scene was Audrey James. Hope I'm wrong cos I think they are great together.....
