I Rory being stunned that Jess wrote a book. While she was living in the pool house, DAR, and tea parties, Logan, Jess came to her and said he had written a book and Logan did not meet her with comion. It was meeting with her own life in a way that felt too good. She rejected it for journalism, a career that would keep her exploring and tasting and free, something Lorelai couldn't have because she had Rory. So for me, and the way I experienced the desires of this show, it felt very human. Very honest, to say it's not the work, it's not the career that Rory needed, but the acceptance of the life she was given and the opportunity to express beyond ego within that life.
