See AllIs The Acolyte A Success? Viewership & Rotten Tomatoes Score Explained
"Within the plethora of claimed review bombs on Rotten Tomatoes are normal fans who are disappointed and have legitimate, intelligent criticisms and they're being ignored."
I'm one of those normal fans. I have no problem with female led movies and TV shows, and used to generally get excited for female action leads. However, I have to it that I've gotten really tired of critiquing content like I would any other, only to be called names for doing so, while absolutely none of the valid criticisms are addressed.
And let's be honest, a lot of the recent female led content has been horrible. That's not because of the female lead. It's because the tone and quality of the content has changed. Creators even it they changed the tone, but if you point out that the new tone ain't working, or that there are objective flaws like plot holes or poor character motivations, people will ignore all that and create a misogynistic straw-man to knock down instead. But hey, I'm just a guy who loved the female led action shows like Killjoys, Alias, Nikita, Dollhouse, Orphan Black, Xena, The 100, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Fringe... so it must be that I can't handle strong female leads.
