I agree with this critique wholeheartedly. There were far more glaring problems than the narrative changes. The film seemed to have taken shortcuts that were painfully obvious—even to a casual viewer. It’s hard not to compare this to Universal’s Wicked, which has already demonstrated what’s possible when a beloved fairy tale is given the care and artistry it deserves. In contrast, Snow White felt like a dollar-store imitation, where profit motives seem to have overshadowed the creative vision.
