I'm in agreement with you, Josh. It is a romance at an intense crush level. The dyad effect and Snoke/Palpatine's manipulations kept them connected through visions and felt insights into what each is doing. In the training scene at the opening of The Rise of Skywalker, Rey is tripped up by her connection to Kylo Ren even after she tried to close the door on any relationship with Ben. Frustrated, Rey can't break away from her connection in the Force and crush on the beautiful young man behind the mask. She its, during the duel on the wreckage of the 2nd death star on the Endor moon, that she wanted to take Ben's hand. Friendship, comrades in arms or does she want Ben as a lover? Or all three? I, at least, think Rey kisses Ben because she's overjoyed that he's finally come back to the light. Rey is happy for him, for the Resistance and perhaps for herself.
