For an article writer your have not done your homework. The reboot revival while a continuation is not centered around Buffy or her friends. It's been made clear from the very beginning since it was announced that this new show will focus on a new 16 year old Slayer and her friends, while Buffy will only be a recurring character with maybe some of the the original cast making a guest appearance. Your falling into the same trap as Buffy fans making this new show into what it's not going to be.

Everyone seems to miss what this new show is. While it's a continuation it's not a straight forward revival of Buffy. It's already been said that the new show will focus on a new Slayer and new characters, SMG is only recurring as Buffy and will not be the star or the focus.

Its not exactly what you think it is and Im seeing a lot of people are setting themselves up to be disappointed in so many ways. As SMG described it, its a soft-Re-boot and a continuation of the original. Its set some 23 years later after the events of the original show, we don't know where the story will take place yet and if the stay true to the Original There is no Sunnydale as it was destroyed, there could be a new rebuilt Sunnydale, that's possible. The new show will primarily focus on a brand new 16 year old Slayer and a new set of characters as her friends, possibly a new Scooby Gang. SMG is set to reprise Buffy in only a recurring role, and will not be in every episode, she is not going to be the main star. Since a part of it is a continuation Im sure we will see a return of some of the original cast in a guest appearance. Its mainly a new show with all new characters but set in the same original Universe. I would not be shocked of we don't see a whole lot of the original cast.

A show does not always need it's original creator for it to be a success and for it to work. Joss had a lot of help making the original what it was and is and a lot of talented writers on the original show that helped make the show successful. Buffy the TV show was not just created and developed by Joss, he had a co-creator. This new show see's the return of 3 of its original Producers including SMG who would not even be involved if anything was done that would tarnish the original story. So far the show is only green lit for a movie pilot. If Hulu Likes the movie Pilot and order a first season other original writers could return and that's all it would take to make the show good. You can't judge something that is not even made yet and you might be surprised. The Star Trek Franchise as a whole has done well over the years with out Gene Roddenberry its original creator involved and since his death.
