Fantastic article. Really gets at the heart of what I've been saying for years. Animal Crossing has just become an ment for itself. It refines visuals and mechanics but has seemingly sold its soul. Things can be "kid-friendly" without being "kid-oriented." Modern-day Animal Crossing is like the manicured Disney superhero stories that people are finally growing tired of. I was very disheartened to see how ACNH exploded in popularity, as someone who's played religiously since it released in North America. Hopefully, people are now going to demand more from their AC experience, like what we used to get.
