The Monkey
THE MONKEY was a huge disappointment. It came off like a totally ineffective copy of a "Final Destination" movie with some elements of Chucky and Annabelle thrown in. It was never really funny and was definitely Not Frightening in the least. Even the CGI effects were done in a campy and non-realistic way, taking away whatever hope the movie had to redeem itself. It calls itself a dark comedy, but when you think of a dark comedy...images of John Water's early films and Andy Warhols 1970's horror dark comedies come to mind. Those are masterpieces compared to The Monkey. It just does not work on any level.

Agatha All Along
Agatha All Along is a fun campy Hocus-Pocus style Halloween treat that's fun to watch in this holiday season... but unless things radically change in the last few episodes, this is a lighthearted adventure series and not much more. It's campy cheezy silliness

"FROM" is a brilliant cocktail mix of the cult classic movies : NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, IT FOLLOWS, SINISTER, THE LAST MAN ON EARTH and the TV classics : THE DOME, and TWILIGHT ZONE.. When you mix these cult classics together and you have fantastic performances, suspenseful direction, clever writing, excellent cinematography and music.. You have a Can't Lose TV hit little gem

Hulu's Modern Golden Girls-Style Sitcom Becomes Streaming Success
Mid-Century Modern was absolutely hilarious and a comforting sitcom where you didn't have to think... just sit back and laugh at all the craziness. The three men were excellent and have great comedy chemistry. The surprise is actor Matt Bomer who is not known for being a comedy legend like Nathan Lane or Linda Lavin. Bomer hits it outa the park with a fantastic comedic turn as a dumb innocent Mormon who is making up for lost time being religious by hopping into bed with everything that moves.. yet maintaining a pure heart of gold. It's an amazing combination. The entire show is superbly written, directed, and performed.

Actually, if you watch the 1976 movie BURNT OFFERINGS... you will see scenes that the legendary director STANLEY KUBRICK copied for his 1980 haunted horror THE SHINING. Everything from old pictures of the house and it's residents of past generations, to maternal/fraternal possession being a danger to their own family . Watch BURNT OFFERINGS first, then rewatch THE SHINING... and you will see how even the great Kubrick cheats
The Monkey Review: I've Never Seen So Many Effectively Creative Kills In A Horror Movie Whose Absurd Comedy Is A Strength & Weakness
THE MONKEY simply sounds like a comical version of the FINAL DESTINATION films. That's not hard to distinguish. I wonder why reviewers like yourself simply don't say it?
“Not Something That You Might Imagine”: Stanley Kubrick Taught One Eyes Wide Shut Star A Lesson That Shaped The Rest Of His Film Career
STANLEY KUBRICK'S "EYES WIDE SHUT" was NOT one of his better films. It is as though Kubrick was not really caught up with the times, with how advanced movies that had controversial erotica had become by 1999. He made the scenes in Eyes Wide Shut as though he believed his scenes inside the sex cult were breaking new ground and would be considered shocking, the way his movie A CLOCKWORK ORANGE was seen as shocking in 1971. But by 1999 everyone had seen the same type stories and many were done far more shockingly and graphically. Kubrick, who had hid himself away in the deep Countryside of England for so many years, wasn't up with the times or recent movies. EYES WIDE SHUT was the kind of movie an old man would think of as controversial and erotic. It was neither. It was verbose and dull for the most part.
Demi Moore's Chances Of Becoming The 7th Actor To Achieve This Oscars Feat Look A Lot Better Now
🏆 DEMI MOORE was indeed brilliant in THE SUBSTANCE... and more than that she was COURAGEOUS in other ways that even men at her age would never dare to in a movie. As for the female director of The Substance.. she also did a fantastic job giving us a Kubrick-Like Film.
