Well we would have called it 'banned' at the time, as the only channel showing it, refused to do so.

Especially as the BBC are a government owned entity, funded by a tax on the population.

There were not a large range of TV services, in the UK, at that time, with only 3 channels, of black and white TV. 2 of those channels were BBC.

It was very basic, by today's standards, so you couldn't access content anywhere else.
