See AllWhy Holly Gibney Is So Controversial (Despite Being One Of Stephen King's Best Characters)
I find this fan disappointment over the genre that Stephen King is writing in of late to be petty and disloyal. Anyone who has read even half of a Stephen King book knows the genre is irrelevant. The trappings of Horror, Sci-Fi, Western, Mystery are merely window dressing, decorations. Stephen King's narratives are always, at their core, about the human condition, how we become who be we become, how we get corrupted or stay uncorrupted, how we treat each other, how we sanctify or demonize each other, what it takes to make us snap. The monsters or aliens or villains are just symbolic. The real monsters are always us and what we do to each other.
