See AllKraven The Hunter Review: I'm Frustrated By How Much Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Marvel Superhero Movie Squanders Its Potential
Can you look at Batman Behind then The Dark Knight & honestly say those movies, superhero movies, were not great pieces of cinematic art? They delivered on all levels, so much that many critics & movies reviewers STILL feel The Dark Knight was robbed of many awards that Oscar season. It
There was no better movie that year. I have yet to watch Kraven but having seen many superhero movies, few are truly great pieces of work. The see some that get halfway there, a few less that are spectacular. The review is simply stating this movie, because of trying to develop too many characters in a limited run time, it failed. That's not harsh, that's honest. I haven't seen it but 4/5 characters for 2 movie- that's way too many characters, like 3 to 4 too many characters. I can see 2, especially if their brothers but 2 is the limit & if they do a character quality flip in the movie, that needs to make sense or at least give some justification. Harvey Dent flipping was so amazing because the justification was so simple yet powerfully displayed for all to see. Yet he, not the Joker, were truly given their full origin story, they just teased at both, with telling of Harvey's past in the Police department and how no 1 liked/trusted the man. That joker was hands down the best joker ever. If disaster would have never happened, there was an origins movie of epic proportions IF they wanted it as giving shadows & hints sometimes does so much more. I'm not exactly defending this reviewer but I will say their points are definitely quality points to make of many movies today. There's nothing wrong with popcorn epics that entertain us. This reviewers is simply saying this movie, with the cast, could have done so much more with this material.
