Depending on the depiction, Superman can be wounded and bloodied. In recent depictions including the DCAU he has been bloodied. In one DCAU movie (I forget which one, maybe the one with Apokolypse) he got beat and scratched up pretty bad. Even a casual Superman fan like myself knows this.

Not saying the trailer is bad (I'm more a Batman person but I'd go and see this take on Superman) but I watched it and got no sense of the plot or anything. I also feel like it introduced way too much too fast for casual fans like myself to keep up with. I'll still see it, it looks good. I just wish I had an understanding of what the movie is about from the teaser.
