Villeneuve is right that the franchise went sideways starting with ROTJ. But it wasn’t for the reason that this author states, that Villeneuve was no longer the target audience, it’s because the whole series was dummied down for pre schoolers. I was 20 when Star Wars was released and I was blown away by it and also the Empire Strikes Back. If people will recall, Han back then was a scoundrel who shot first. But starting with ROTJ, the whole franchise was dummy downed for 5 year olds. Yoda was great, but Ewoks are for pre schoolers. Yeah both are caricatures but Yoda had character depth that adults could relate to.
