Jeremy, is the worst song on the album imo. I understand why some think it's great. But subject matter shouldn't carry the day here. I like to go with the late film critic Roger Ebert, when he said " I don't judge a film on what it's about, I judge it on how it's about it". So while the subject matter of the song is irable, the aesthetics aren't very pleasing to this ear.
