See AllOnly 1 Tombstone Actor Didn't Grow A Real Mustache For The 1993 Western Movie
My husband & I love Westerns! We switched from the modern violent movies that seem to focus more on the gore than on the script & acting. Tombstone's one of our favorites. It hearkens back to the age of the great John Ford westerns where the scripts were top- notch, the scenery was breathtaking & one didn't need to see blood & guts pouring out after a person was shot to make the point. Even after Doc Holliday shoots his nemesis in the head all you see is a small hole & a trickle of blood which leaves Val Kilmer free to show the sardonic side of his character without the distraction of 'shock & awe'.
The acting was great & the script, while taking some liberties with the actual history still was fairly accurate to the story of Wyatt Earp & his brothers & their fight against the Clantons & the Cowboys gang, including the infamous Gunfight at the OK Corral. And who wouldn't love the awesome mustaches (all real!), hairdos, excellent costuming & sets that take one back to the Old West?
Of course, truth be told few of us would trade our modern lives for how they lived back then...no indoor plumbing, deodorants or even window screens, along no central heating etc. But it's still nice to imagine a kinder, quieter time with heroes like Wyatt Earp! BTW, we bought our own copy on DVD... just to make sure we have it on hand, streaming services notwithstanding.
